Recipes - Making Crisps for business

A recipe to making crisps and I decided to do a complete guide on how to venture into this business.

Crisps business is a very profitable business when taken seriously. It's one of the snacks that can be consumed by every age because of it's sweet taste. Venturing into the business with the following considerations can make you be successful

1. Don't overcharge, a reasonable price between 10-50 iko tu sawa depending with the size of packaging

2. Always get your potatoes from the market where the prices are favourable and the quantity& quality is also good as compared to kibanda.

3. You can sell the crisps in school, supply to the retailer shops around you and also in the market.

4. When selling in schools especially primary, avoid kuweka pilipili since they're kids(salt is general for everyone) but when supplying to shops/market, you can have varied flavours

5. Kutumia slicer is highly recommended for good size( to make them crispy)

Here's the recipe

1. Wash the potato 🥔 first before peeling. Don't peel first then wash( makes them look clean)

2. Use a crisps slicer for the correct sizes of crisps. Using a knife can be tricky since the sizes might be thick thus not frying well and when it cools it'll be soggy. The slicer is 30 or 50 bob, use the top part for peeling off and slicing the crisps(as pictured below)

3. After slicing into crisps, place them in clean water for like 20-30 mins to remove starch...the most important reason for this is to allow the excess starches and sugars to be removed to keep the potatoes from browning prematurely from exposure to air. Therefore inafanya crisps inaonekana haziko fresh even though umepika same day(HAPA NDIO MOST PEOPLE MESS UP, DON'T FORGET THIS)

4. Drain and dry the potato slices on a piece of clean kitchen towel/serviette/ drainer kama ile ya chips before frying them.

5. Next, put oil in a sufuria and let the oil not overheat as it will make your crisps burn faster (Alternatively, you can test temperatures by putting in a piece of precooked crisps to see how quickly it browns and crisps.

5. After removing from the oil, place the crisps on a serviette/anything that can drain oil to remove excess oil and then add salt, pepper and any other seasonings you fancy for flavor while it's still hot

6. Leave to cool for extra crunch when you bite into them.(don't cover while it's still hot because it will trap moisture and be soggy)

7. Always be clean, warm and welcoming towards customers to attract them😊

8. Good luck in your businesses
